![]() Our study participants Families who were members of the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, living near Oakland, California voluntarily enrolled in the CHDS between 1959 and 1967 when a woman first thought that she was pregnant. Each of the 15,000 families who participated in the CHDS made a generous contribution of their time to participate in comprehensive interviews about their health, lifestyle and experiences that might influence the progress of pregnancy and the health of their infant. The public is indebted to the cooperation and participation of the CHDS families who have donated their time and put their trust in CHDS scientists as they participated in important studies. CHDS Staff Over 40 years, the CHDS has benefited significantly from the participation of hundreds of dedicated scientists, physicians, nurses, interviewers, administrators, and office workers who helped to create an unprecedented resource for medical and health research. We pay tribute to several individuals, now deceased, who played a key role on the CHDS staff and who are deeply missed, Jacob Yerushalumy, Louise Milkovich, Marion Parry, and Frank Oechsli. The CHDS continues research with a core staff in Berkeley, California who collaborate with investigators from many distinguished institutions.CHDS Staff
